A much more difficult hole than it’s yardage suggests. The first hole on Rothes Golf Course has a gradual incline to the green that is ignored at your peril. This truly can be a ‘make or break’ hole if chasing a score in the second nine.
The green is one of the larger greens on the course, raised above the level of the fairway in keeping with the character of ‘Rothes’. The raised nature of the green demands accuracy if you are to give yourself a scoring chance on this hole.
